A proud page of our glorious history and the most sacred day of our spirituality come together!
Today, September 20th, marks the State Sovereignty Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan! On this very same day, the Jewish world is observing Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement) — a time of deep reflection, prayers, spiritual cleansing, and fasting.
On behalf of the Jewish Religious Community of Sumqayit, which has lived on this blessed land for centuries in an atmosphere of peace, harmony, and mutual respect, we sincerely congratulate our nation on State Sovereignty Day!
The sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan are of the highest value to each of us. Citizens of Azerbaijan of Jewish origin have always fought shoulder-to-shoulder for the freedom of our Motherland and stood guard over its independence. We are truly proud to live in a united and sovereign Azerbaijan!
On this holy day of Yom Kippur, we pray to the Almighty to grant eternal peace, progress, and prosperity to our native Azerbaijan — the true cradle of tolerance and multiculturalism. May the sovereignty of our state be eternal, and may our flag always fly high!
We wish all members of our community a meaningful and easy fast, and may your prayers be accepted. Gmar Chatima Tova! Happy State Sovereignty Day!
